George Donovan, Chairman
George holds a B.A. degree from the University of Miami and a M.S. degree from the University of Illinois, both in finance. George has been an elected board member of North Cobb Christian School since 1995, serving as Treasurer for most of those years, and currently as the Chairman. George is President of Donovan Enterprises, Inc., a holding company for venture capital investments. Previously, he was employed by the Coulter Corporation, a world leader in in-vitro diagnostic testing where his responsibilities over 17 years included field sales, sales management, financial planning, budgeting, and new product project management. He also serves on the board of one other technology company and advises for another leading edge business. Most recently, George helped in the start up of a public charter school in Long Beach, California focusing on the underserved students in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Micro Enterprise Charter Academy has been heralded by the California Department of Education as having submitted one of the most forward thinking educational charter proposals they ever received. George has been married to his wife Mary since 1981 and they have three children, Sarah, Christopher, and Gregory. Sarah and Christopher graduated from NCCS in 2003 and 2005 respectively. The Donovans attended Saddleback Church during the three-year period (2006-2009) while their youngest son finished high school in Anaheim, California. Mr. Donovan's passion is helping provide students the opportunity to discover their God given potential. His favorite Scripture verse is 3 John 1:4 "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." |
Steve Carroll, Vice Chairman
Steve, Chief Executive Officer and President of Cohutta Water, Inc., began his 28-year journey in the bottled water industry with the start of Georgia Mountain Water in 1981 along with his two older brothers. They became the first company to bottle spring water in Fannin County, and the second in the state of Georgia. Steve Carroll founded Cohutta Water in 1996, after branching off from his brothers with the goal to find the best water source available. Acquiring over 380 acres in the North Georgia Mountains, Steve was able to offer his customers a high quality product, exceeding FDA and industry standards, as well as first-class customer service. Steve served on the International Bottled Water Association Board for nine years and was chairman in 1996. He remains active in the local community with memberships in the Acworth and Kennesaw Business Associations. Steve and his wife Kathy married in 1984 and have two sons, Jake, a NCCS graduate and Chase, a freshman at NCCS. The Carroll family attends North Pointe Church. Steve's favorite Scripture is the third and fourth chapters of Philippians which includes "I can do everything through him who gives me strength." |
Howard M. Delashmit, Secretary
Howard graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S, in Industrial Management with Highest Honors in 1985 and from Emory Law School in 1988. He is a partner in the real estate law firm of Morris | Hardwick | Schneider, LLC. Howard is a strong believer in giving back to the community and in developing leaders. He is a graduate of both the Leadership Cobb and Leadership Bartow programs and currently serves as Chairman of the Leadership Bartow program. He also serves on the Cartersville/Bartow County Chamber of Commerce. He has assisted NCCS with the Mock Trial competition for the past seven years. Howard and his wife, Ronnie, have been married for 26 years and have two sons, Hunter and Ethan, both of whom attend NCCS. The Delashmits attend North Metro Community Church. Howard's favorite Scripture is Romans 3:23-24 - "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." |
Gordon Brittingham, Treasurer
Gordon is an experienced leader and consults regularly with business teams in a variety of areas to help create effective strategies that will impact organizational results. He has hands-on experience within a wide range of financial service areas including: bankcard, internet lending, short-term lending and mortgages. He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Delaware. He and his wife Cynthia were married in 1992 and have three children, Taylor, David and Kendall, all of whom attend NCCS. In addition to serving as the Treasure of the Board, Gordon is the Finance Committee Chair. The Brittinghams attend Grace Covenant Church. Currently Gordon is a soccer coach with the NW YMCA of Metro Atlanta. He enjoys spending time with his family and says his kids are his only current hobby. Gordon's favorite Scripture was used in his wedding ceremony and is Jeremiah 21:11-13 - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." |
Teresa Adams
Teresa has a BBA in Accounting from Augusta State University and has previously worked as an accountant for a CPA firm. She has served on the Board since 2003 and was the Board Secretary from January 2006 to June 2009. She has also served the board as a member of the Executive Committee, Head Compensation Committee, Nominating Committee, and Head of School Evaluation Committee. Teresa and David have been married for 24 years and have two children, Rachel, a 2008 graduate of NCCS, and Daniel, a junior at the school. They are members of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church, and Teresa has served in many capacities over the years, including Sunday School teacher, Children's Choir Assistant, VBS teacher, Summer Music Camp assistant and has led Ladies Bible Studies. Teresa enjoys leading and participating in ladies Bible studies and baking. Her favorite Scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight." |
Mason Brown
Mason graduated from Jacksonville University in 1980 with a Bachelors degree, received his medical degree from Medical College of Virginia in 1984, and received his MBA from Auburn University in 2006. He is currently the VP of Medical Affairs for McKesson Corporation and a Fellow, American Academy of Family Physicians. Mason has been active in the local community and has held board positions on the Bartow Health Access, Bartow County Women's Resource Center and with the Harbin Clinic. Mason and Linda have been married 27 years and they have three children, Justin, Ryan and Avian. Ryan is a senior at NCCS and Avian is a freshman. The family attends Tabernacle Baptist Church, where Mason is a deacon and teaches Sunday School. His favorite Scripture in John 15: 9-12 - "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." |
Ted Daniels
Ted attended Florida Beacon Bible College where he met his wife, Jill. He has been in the insurance business for 25 years and is the owner of Bottom Line Benefits,, an employee benefits advisory firm located in Acworth. As part of his team, he currently employs two former North Cobb Christian graduates and has provided intern/part-time work opportunities for current students at NCCS. Ted and Jill have been married 25 years and they have four children, Evan, Charity, Melody and Dylan. After moving to Georgia in 1990, their family came to North Cobb Christian School in 1991 enrolling Evan in first grade. Since then the three oldest have graduated from NCCS and currently attend college at Kennesaw State University and Georgia College and State University with one due to graduate in May 2009. Ted and Jill attend North Metro Church in Kennesaw. Over the eighteen years they have been at North Cobb Christian, Ted has served twice on the board for an approximate total of thirteen years, serving as past Secretary and current Vice Chairman. He has chaired or served on numerous committees as the school needed over the years. He enjoys the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, politics and team sports. Ted's favorite Scripture is Ephesians 1:7 - "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace." |
Jay McAnnally
Jay studied Geology and Mining/Petroleum Engineering at the University of Alabama and graduated in1981. He went on to study Theology at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jay is currently the Corporate Chaplain for Carl Black Automotive Group. He provides Spiritual and emotional care for up to 1000 employees in GA, FL and TN. He also serves as their Director of Facilities and Construction. In the past 6 years he has been responsible for over 20 million dollars worth of automotive buildings. For over 15 years he enjoyed managing Geological and Environmental Engineering projects across the USA including tunnels, dams, large manufacturing plants and defense facility environmental studies. Jay and his wife, Laura, have been married for 27 years and have three daughters, Erin, a senior at NCCS, Kelsey, a freshman (at a public high school), and Callan in fifth grade at NCCS. The McAnnally's attend Cedarcrest Church where Jay serves as the Spiritual Growth Pastor. He is also active in Men's Ministry, Volunteers, and Hospitality and Construction. Jay was a founding pastor at NorthStar Church of Kennesaw, GA serving as their Pastor of Family Life for seven years. In the 1990's he worked with the Promise Keepers organization in Atlanta becoming a licensed and ordained minister in1997. Jay has served on the NCCS Board for 4 years. His favorite Scripture in Proverbs 3:6-9 "...in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;" |
Shawn A. Tidwell
Shawn graduated in 1990 from the University of Tennessee with a BS in Finance. In 1993, he received his law degree from the University of Memphis. Shawn practiced commercial real estate, corporate and bankruptcy law for 10 years in Memphis before moving to Atlanta in 2003. Currently, Shawn serves as Vice President and Counsel for the Atlanta national commercial office of Fidelity National Title Insurance Company. Shawn and his wife Kelly have been married 15 years. They have four children: Alex, Meghan, Erin and Drew. They attend NorthStar Church, where Kelly, Shawn, Alex and Meghan teach Sunday school to a kindergarten class. They are also active with MUST ministries. Shawn enjoys tennis, basketball and spending time with his family. Shawn's favorite Scripture verse is Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." |
