Lower School (Kindergarten - 4th Grade)
At North Cobb Christian School, young learners thrive in a Christ-centered atmosphere designed to promote academic, spiritual, and social growth. With nurturing teachers and exceptional learning resources, students develop strong foundations in many different areas.
Heavy emphasis is placed on the core subjects of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, ensuring lower school students develop the proficiencies needed for all future learning. Each of these subjects is taught from a Biblical perspective, allowing students to see how God’s word is relevant in every area of life.
The lower school core curriculum is enhanced by many special subjects such as Spanish, art, music, technology, and physical education. Led by passionate teachers, these enrichment opportunities help students discover their God-given gifts and talents early on.
We believe a complete education provides more than strong academic foundations. Partnering closely with parents, teachers cultivate values such as love, service, personal responsibility, respect, and integrity in the hearts of our students. A variety of leadership and service opportunities encourage meaningful growth throughout the lower school years.
Our curriculum is designed to make the most of students’ natural curiosity during the early years. Hands-on learning experiences foster critical thinking and effective teamwork skills. From reading and writing to science and social studies, students are given the tools to become confident and independent thinkers. A Biblical framework encourages a continual pursuit of truth in learning.
RISE (Research, Investigation, Study, & Exploration) is available to students in 2nd through 4th grade who demonstrate academic giftedness and maintain a high grade point average. Students enjoy a half-day per week of enrichment time that involves field trips and higher-level thinking activities. Students are recommended by their teachers and invited to join.
QUEST is an exciting extended-care program designed to encourage a continual “quest for knowledge.” Participating students develop an appreciation for fine arts, athletics, technology, and sciences through experiential learning. QUEST provides before-school care beginning at 7 a.m. (no additional charge). After-school care is available until 6:30 p.m. (Any lower school student remaining on campus after 3pm will attend QUEST at a fee of $13.00 per day.)
