Middle School Girls Season Summary

What a season the middle school girl’s soccer team had this year!
At the beginning of the season, some goals were set for this team. The first was to a win a game and the second was to be competitive in all of our league games. For too long the middle school girl’s team at NCC has been the “doormat” for NAML and it needed to change. In order to facilitate this change, I told the team for every goal they scored I would run a lap around the field. The team responded well, almost too well. In this season, they scored a total of 26 goals(last year the team scored twice).

Our first game of the season began with a set back from the first place team Walker but the team bounced back in the next game with an impressive victory over Trinity Chapel. This was followed by a tie with 2nd place Mount Paran and a tie with 3rd place Mount Bethel. After these four games the girls started believing they could beat anyone and could make the playoffs. After a win against A League Co-champion Shiloh Hills, the team “reeled off” four consecutive victories, we were tied for 3rd with Mount Bethel in the NAML standings.  Our last game with Mount Bethel was the battle for 3rd place. Unfortunately it was not to be our day, as we fell to Mount Bethel. However, we still had enough points to reach the NAML playoffs, something the Middle School Girl’s team has never done.

Entering the NAML playoffs, we fought hard but lost to eventual NAML champion Hebron Christian. 

Even though the team did not make it the championship game, they went to the NAML playoffs, which last year was only a dream.

Thanks go to Coach Shearman and Coach Greene for their expertise and talent. They made my life a lot easier. Also to Linda Brown, for her outstanding organization skills! She kept the coaches, parents and players up to date on field changes, bus rides and directions.
