NCCS Students Participate in CPR Drill
NCCS participated in Project Save's 1st Annual CPR Drill Day on Friday, February 5. As a unique opportunity, Upper School students in Alyson Epp’s Introduction to Health Sciences were the ones involved in this drill. For the second year at NCCS, CPR is being taught to all Upper School students in their health classes. Jane Soulis, NCCS School Nurse said, “I knew the students would do well, but I was amazed at how well they did. They responded to the emergency immediately, performed CPR, and knew the location of the nearest AED. The students had the AED in place and a shock delivered within 1 minute and 30 seconds. This is an impressive time because the drill took place in the Annex, so the students had to get the AED from the building on the baseball field. We are in good hands with our students!”
We are thankful for Kristy Sanders, Mike Morris, Alyson Epp, and Patti White who all took the CPR instructor course two years ago in order to join Mrs. Soulis in making it possible for all Upper School students to have CPR training by the time they graduate from NCCS. We are also proud to be considered a “Heart-Safe” School by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Brothers Advance to State Tournament
The varsity wrestling team competed in the GHSA A - B sectional tournament at Mt. Zion High School in Carrollton this past Saturday, resulting in the top four finishers in each weight class advancing to the GHSA state tournament at the Gwinnett Arena on February 12 and 13. Freshman Jake Watson (120 lbs - pictured on right) advanced through his bracket to the sectional finals, but unfortunately, a clavicle break in the finals match ended Jake's season and trip to the state tournament, despite his 2nd place finish. His brother, Junior Mark Watson (138 lbs - pictured on left) battled back hard to take 3rd place in his weight class and will advance to the state tournament. Also competing at Sectionals were Sophomore Austin Clark (160) and Senior Bryant Bell (170). Congratulations to all of our wrestlers for a great season!
