North Cobb Christian School is excited to announce that Jake Sorg has been hired as its new Head Football Coach. In addition, Coach Sorg will teach Strength Training classes. He is currently the Head Football Coach and Director of Football Operations at Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Additionally, he serves there as the Director of Strength and Conditioning.
Jake has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Guilford College, in Greensboro, North Carolina where he was a four-year starter. He has also been certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has twelve years of experience in this field.
Coach Sorg has been the Head Football Coach at Westminster Academy for the last four years achieving a 28-12 record. In addition, during his head coaching tenure, 14 of his players are currently on, or will be on, collegiate football rosters. Before moving to Westminster Academy, Coach Sorg was an Assistant Football Coach and a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University School of Nova Southeastern University.
Coach Sorg's mission is to "make a difference in the lives of young men for Christ and His Kingdom so that they can do the same in the world for a lifetime." He sees football as "a vehicle that cultivates positive spiritual, physical, and emotional development".
Regarding his new position at NCCS, Coach Sorg says, "It is an honor and a blessing to have been selected as NCCS' next head football coach! My wife Cassie and my three children, Lana, Lola, and Rocco, are privileged to be welcomed to the NCCS school community! We are prayerful that our family will create a positive legacy at NCCS. I am humbled by the opportunity to work with the student-athletes and will work hard to cultivate an experience that builds productive and successful young adults of today and tomorrow."
NCCS Athletic Director Keith Bollinger is excited about having Coach Sorg at NCCS and says, "After a comprehensive and thorough search, we are thrilled with Jake Sorg coming on board to lead our football program at NCCS. Jake will be bringing his energy and excitement to move our program forward. His godly leadership will impact our players both on and off the field. I look forward to having Jake and his family as part of the NCCS family."

Please join us in welcoming Coach Sorg and his family to the NCCS community!
Special Library Project to Honor John-Michael Ritchey
Have you seen the large blue shipping container at the Fine Arts Building? Do you want to help us turn that shipping container into a library that can be shipped to Haiti so that a village in Haiti will know that “God offers us a better story”? In order to honor the life of our dear friend and beloved teacher John-Michael Ritchey, our Upper School Student Government has partnered with Torch of Hope in order to present our Chick-fil-A IMPACT Project for the Spring of 2016.
We will be hosting workdays over the next few weeks to convert this shipping container into a library that will house books to help teach English to Haitians. It will also be a place where they can come and learn and grow as a part of the greater school community in Haiti. The container will be shipped this summer to a Christian school in Haiti where it is highly anticipated and much needed.
The NCCS National Junior Honor Society is currently having a book drive to help us collect books for the library. New and gently used books for all ages are welcome. Do you have 3 copies of Brown Bear, Brown Bear? That would be a great book for beginning English language learners! In the coming weeks, you will learn more about school supplies that are also needed and we will post any information about the workdays on social media and in E-news so our families can come and help. There are plenty of opportunities for students, parents, faculty and staff, families, and alumni to help with this awesome project. Feel free to include your neighbors in our workdays as a way to get the community involved!
Our most immediate need is for people with construction skills in the following areas: Framing Carpentry (for bookcases) Drywall Electrical Tile Installation If you have expertise in any of these areas and would be willing to volunteer some of your time, please contact Suzanne Perrin, Project Lead. (email@example.com)
The goal is to have this project wrapped up the first part of May. Many hands make light work! Thank you in advance for sharing your time, talent, and treasure to help this project make a huge difference for the sake of the gospel in Haiti and in honor of Mr. Ritchey.

Lower School Talent Show a Huge Success!
Thank you to all who were able to come and support our wonderfully talented Lower School students last Friday night! We had a great time at our talent show this year! Acts ranged from singing to gymnastics, drawing to magic tricks, and many in between. We loved seeing these students get the chance to shine with talents they don't normally get to share. We even got to show off some of our talented Lower School staff! Thanks to all who helped make this show a success and foster these students' talents!
US Concert Orchestra & Band Travel to Georgia College and State University
On Tuesday, April 19, the Upper School Concert Orchestra and Band students traveled to Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. Students were met by an amazing student ambassador, a college representative and one of our own NCCS alumni - Maddie Mobley (Class of 2015). This team took our students on a wonderful tour of their beautiful and stately campus, going from the college entrance, to rock emblem in the ground at the center of campus, to the Music Building, and to the Maxwell Student Union where they had a delicious dinner. After dinner they were able to spend time with the director and sit in on the final rehearsal and the GCSU Orchestra playing their spring concert, The String Classics, with Maddie Mobley in the first violin section! Also on the concert program was the string quartet, Kazanetti String Quartet. One of the interesting things that the students learned about GCSU is that they could join the orchestra whether or not they were planning to pursue a music degree so that their passion for music could continue into college. Everyone felt blessed to be able to spend some time with two of our awesome band and orchestra alumni, Maddie Mobley and Theo Peykoff, who are both loving their college experience at GCSU!
