Q. Why is everyone talking about the Eagles Annual Fund and being “All In” right now?
A. Because for the month of September, the Eagles Annual Fund is what it’s all about! With both 10-day and 23-day challenges during September, your family is being encouraged to participate - and to participate early!
Q. What does it mean for my kid(s) when I give?
A. Your kid(s) could win TWO prizes! First, there is the September Parent Challenge. The lower school class in each grade, middle school homeroom in each grade, or upper school advisory group in each grade with the highest percentage of parent participation by fall break (September 23) will win a prize. In addition, there’s the all in in 10. ANY of those groups that reach 100% by September 10 will get a prize for reaching that goal AND the September Challenge prize. Most importantly, it enriches all of our programs and helps take North Cobb Christian School from a great school to an excellent school.
Q. I want to participate in the Annual Fund during the month of September, but I don’t have the money to give right now. What are my options?
A. Good News - PLEDGES COUNT as participation! You can fill out the form for a pledge HERE or fill out the participation form that came in the mail with your letter and indicate that you would like to give a pledge. You can choose to pay the pledge off throughout the school year, or pay it off in one lump sum later in the year. Either way, the pledge will count for participation in the Parent Challenge!
Q. I want to give, but what’s the best way for me to do that?
A. Give OR pledge online HERE Stop by the Development Office and drop off a check or cash OR fill out a participation form to submit your pledge

Second Grade Visits Fire Safety Village
Second grade students stopped by Sparky's house on Wednesday, August 31, when they visited the Fire Safety Village in Marietta! Students learned from real police and firefighters about how to stop, drop, and roll, what to do if a stranger approaches you, how to tell an adult if a gun is found, and much more! Students applied what they learned as they climbed out a window using a ladder, called 911 to report an emergency, and practiced bike safety as they zoomed around the cul de sac! Students also discussed bus and train safety, how to identify people who can help during an emergency, and they watched a puppet show reinforcing all the important skills taught that day. Second graders ended the day with a hug from Sparky! Students loved meeting real police and firefighters - their hard work as our leaders in public safety is very appreciated!

Help Our Students Serve Others - Parents Needed for Special Projects
NCCS Lower School students are learning about Love in September, and what better way to show love than to serve others! During chapel on September 20, K5-4th graders will be wrapping silverware for Must Ministries and our K3-K4 students will be coloring hearts for Teddy Bears to be handed out to children by Police Officers and Firefighters during times of distress. We are looking for at least 10 parents with hearts for others to help with these projects! We will be wrapping silverware from 8:10am - 8:45am in the gym and then helping with the teddy bears in our preschool classrooms around 9:00am. As a special parent helper, you are welcome to help with one or both sessions. Please email Denise Meier at email@example.com if you are interested in this awesome service opportunity!
Clip, Clip, Clip for NCCS!
Box Tops for Education is a school earnings program that helps schools earn cash to buy the things they need. We had a great time kicking off this program in chapel this week and our representatives are excited to get started in your child’s classroom!
Box Tops are each worth 10¢ for schools and are found on hundreds of products. When students, families, schools and communities work together to collect Box Tops, the money adds up fast. Last year, our school earned over $4,000, which we used to help purchase easels for each lower school classroom. We can earn even more cash this school year with your help. Our goal this year is $6,000!
Top contributors will win prizes and brag tags and the class that brings in the most for our first collection on September 20th, will even get to throw pies in Mrs. Titus’ face! Start clipping now - and invite family members and friends to clip as well!
To learn more about the Box Tops for Education™ program and see a list of participating products, visit the Box Tops website. Thank you in advance for your support!
Please refrain from parking in all parking spaces that are marked with RESERVED signs.

NCCS Students Selected for Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra
Over last year's spring semester, along with preparing for spring concerts, preparing for exams and final tests, and just looking forward to summer, some students were busy preparing for auditions for the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) as well! GYSO was founded in 2006 and is the largest youth orchestra program in the southeast, encompassing four orchestras, a jazz ensemble and a percussion ensemble. Gifted and talented elementary through high school age musicians from across the state are selected through competitive auditions.
Congratulations to the following North Cobb Christian School students who auditioned and captured a seat in one of four prestigious orchestras:
MS 5th Grade Orchestra - Owen Siller - Sinfonia MS 6th Grade Orchestra - Lindsay Nichols - Camerata MS 8th Grade Band - Tyler Nichols - Camerata MS Chorus - Chichi Enyinda - Camerata US Concert Orchestra - Hallie Meier - Philharmonia US Concert Orchestra - Sarah Sprouse - Philharmonia US Concert Band - Kayla Constantine - Symphony
These students will rehearse weekly in their orchestras throughout the school year and perform three concerts at the Bailey Performance Center at Kennesaw State University. The three-concert series demonstrates the growing talents of the orchestra, which typically plays to standing room only crowds. The concerts are open to the public and these students would love to have you come and listen! Sunday, October 23, 2016 will be the first concert - get your tickets early.
NCCS String Quartet Plays for Special Events
Upper School students Sarah Sprouse, Hallie Meier, Molly Dennis and Caitlin Barra volunteered their time to serenade guests at the first ever Harvest Dinner at the 1845 William Root House Museum and Garden in Marietta this past Friday evening. The William Root House is part of the Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society. What a great opportunity to get outside the walls of NCCS to share the amazing gift of music! It was a wonderful evening and this string quartet played beautifully as the guests mingled and shared conversation.
Prior to this event, we were pleased to have the quartet play for the Pastors’ Breakfast held before our Circle of Prayer last week. After the completion of both events, the quartet is already looking forward to their next music “gig!”
