Thank you so much to everyone who came out to be a part of NCCS Homecoming 2016: Around the World this past Friday night! What a fun evening celebrating our alumni, current families, and the Homecoming Court. Congratulations to NCCS Seniors Will McKenzie and Lauren Brown for being named our Homecoming King and Queen for 2016.
On Saturday evening, we hosted the inaugural NCCS Homecoming Dance. We had a huge turnout and everyone had a lot of fun dancing the night away! Special thanks to NCCS Parents Marty and Danielle Resnick of Magic Mirror Photos for bringing their Magic Mirror Photobooth to help capture some special memories from the dance! Get your dancing shoes ready as we are already hard at work planning for next year!

Friday Night Lights - Pink Out!
Come cheer on our varsity football team on Friday night as they take on Bowdon. The game will be a PINK OUT in support of breast cancer awareness, so wear as much pink as you can and come out to cheer for our team beginning at 7:30pm! We will also have our lower school cheerleaders cheering with our varsity cheerleader during the first half of the game! Go Eagles!

Tennis Shoe Drive Ends Friday
We are grateful for all of the tennis shoes our families have brought in for the Shoes4Kenya project! Many students in Kenya will benefit from your generous donations! Please be sure to bring your gently used tennis shoes to place in the bin at the front of the school by Friday, October 28.
Look Ahead for 8th Grade Parents & Shadow Day for 8th Grade Students
Eighth grade parents - join Upper School principal Megan Strange on Thursday, November 17, in the gym for a chance to look ahead into the world of Upper School. We will get the 8th graders organized and on their way to "Shadow" in the Upper School for the day and then have a time of informal conversation and a chance to ask questions in advance of the more detailed Upper School meeting that will take place in January. Parents are invited to join us in the gym from 8:15am until 9:00am and enjoy some great discussion and wonderful fellowship with other parents who are also eagerly anticipating all that is available to our students in Upper School.

NCCS Students Perform in GYSO Concerts
Students from all over Cobb County filled the Bailey Performing Arts Center this past Sunday, October 23, ready to perform the music they had been working on this first semester in GYSO - Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra! Students auditioned last May in hopes of getting a position in one of the four GYSO Orchestras - Sinfonia, Camerata, Philharmonia and Symphony. NCCS was well represented in the GYSO Orchestras and each one did a fantastic job. , Congratulations to the following students for their great performances. According to Mrs. Debbie Brink, Director of Orchestras, “Your long hours of practice are worth every minute as you make His praise glorious!”
Middle and upper school orchestra students from Cobb County, District 12, performed this past Saturday in the Georgia Music Educator's Association Solo & Ensemble Performance Evaluation event. This event was held at Daniel Middle School in Marietta where some very amazing music was heard by each judge. Students performed in different ensembles such as duets, trios, quartets, and string ensembles or as a solo with an accompanist. NCCS had a total of nine different ensembles and two soloists, with each bringing home the GOLD! All received a rating of 1, which is a Superior rating from the judge.

Special Fall Celebration in 2nd Grade
Fall is in the air in second grade! This week second grade students had the opportunity to have muffins with their teacher to celebrate fall! After a delicious breakfast, students heard a Fall story and participated in fun pumpkin activities! This was a special treat for both students and teachers as we look forward to the upcoming season!
Lower School Principal for the Day
Fourth grader Caroline Roberts shadowed Mrs. Titus as Lower School Principal of the Day this week. After Grandparents’ Day program practice, they spent time visiting classrooms, talking with different offices, and interacting with students. Caroline's favorite part of the day was a golf cart ride with Mr. Clingman and Mrs. Titus. Mr. Clingman showed Caroline the new improvements on campus. Interacting with K3 & K4 students was a special highlight of her day followed by lunch in the principal’s office. This special opportunity was purchased through the NCCS Benefit Auction held this past spring.

Veterans Day Chapel - November 10
NCCS has a strong tradition of honoring and celebrating our military veterans. Be sure to make plans to attend a very special chapel honoring our veterans through music and multimedia presentations on Thursday, November 10, at 9:15am. A complimentary breakfast for veterans and their spouses will precede the chapel at 8:00am and our veterans will line up for a parade into the gym at 9:00am. Eagles Open Mic/Karaoke Night
Upper School students - Mark your calendars for a fun after-game night with some of your favorite songs as we sing our hearts out to karaoke in the FAB! This will take place next Friday, November 4, after the game (around 8:30/9pm) until 11pm. Come enjoy some snacks while you sing the night away. Get a group together and sing your favorites. NCCS is excited to offer some great camps over the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. Perfect for kids of working parents, or kids who just want to have a blast over the holidays, these camps are sure to be a lot of fun!
StarWars.Mach5.Legos Fun Camp
Individually, these camps were very popular over the summer - so imagine how much MORE fun it will be to combine all of these activities into one awesome camp! This new camp will be offered for 3 days during Thanksgiving break (November 21 - 23) and 5 days during Christmas break (12/26 - 12/30). Students will get to play Star Wars games, dress up in Star Wars Costumes, race cars on the HUGE Mach 5 Carrera Digital Slot Car track, play PS4 and PS3 video games, make awesome creations through Lego building, and have fun movie times. Minecraft Camp - Thanksgiving Break
For another great Thanksgiving camp option, another one of our very popular summer camps is coming back for 3 days! Minecraft immerses kids in creative thinking, geometry, and even a little geology as they build imaginative block structures. We have a great 3 days planned and your kids won't want to miss it! Minecraft campers will work as a team and individually using Minecraft to work on communication, problem solving, and having fun. This camp, offered by James West, NCCS Director of Food Services and NCCS junior Luke West, is limited to 25 kids, ages K5-8th grade, and includes a Minecraft membership for the camp. The 1st - 4th grade chapel is in the gym from 8:10- 8:45am and Ms. Romine’s 2nd grade class will be leading the pledges. The K3 - K5 chapel is in the gym from 8:50-9:20am and Mrs. Hubbs’ 1st grade class will lead the pledges.
