NCCS Recognized in Niche 2017 List of Best Christian High Schools In Georgia
We are pleased to be included in the 2017 Niche list of Best Christian High Schools in Georgia! This achievement is a result of scoring highly on a variety of factors including SAT/ACT scores, student-teacher ratio, the quality of colleges that students consider, and reviews from students and parents. The Niche data team analyzed data from thousands of schools across the country to create their 2017 Best Schools list.
It Really is Cool to be a GEEC!
Participating in the Georgia Education Expense Credit (GEEC) Program is one of the easiest ways you can support NCCS without spending any extra money. But a lot of people are confused about how easy it is to participate. The top four reasons people do not participate are:
- They do not understand the difference between a Tax Liability and a Tax Refund. - They have to make a charitable donation within 60 days of receiving approval. - They wait too late to get the credit, - They do not know about GEEC.
Check out this presentation from our GEEC meeting this week and read how we debunk all of these myths and teach you how it really is cool to be a GEEC participant!
The deadline to apply is December 15 - so don’t delay! Contact Andrea Ferguson in the Development Office with any questions.

Students Inducted Into Foreign Language Honor Societies
On November 9th French and Spanish students were inducted as new members into the North Cobb Christian School chapters of the Société Honoraire de Français and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica. As inductees, the students were recognized for their stellar academic performance and for their progress and enthusiasm for languages and cultures. The induction was extra special, as the keynote speaker was NCCS Alum Michael Lerzo ('13), who spoke about his dedication to languages and how God has stirred in him while in college. Michael talked about how Spanish has been a vehicle in his life to teaching others about God's Word. GRACIAS, Michael, for coming out and MERCI for being such a great example of language learning!

Fourth Grade Creates Wind Scales
Mrs. Bare's 4th graders have had a blast with Mrs. Coleman during their science lab time learning about air pressure and wind speed. Students created their own wind scales to model the Beaufort Wind Scale and then tested their scales on structures they constructed with paper and tape. They also learned about air pressure related to volume with potato launchers from Steve Spangler's science tools.
Lower School Explores Careers
Lower School students had the honor of hosting Johnnie Gabriel as the main session speaker for Lower School Career Day. First - Fourth grade students learned that some people call her “The Cake Lady” and others “The Cookie Lady,” but Johnnie told the students that God calls her a child of the King. Mrs. Gabriel started Gabriel's Desserts 27 years ago out of her home and now her business has expanded to 3 restaurants and she has published 3 cookbooks. Mrs. Gabriel explained the qualities needed to be a chef and a baker, as well as what academic subjects will help them to be more successful in this field. Students also learned that fractions and geometry are very important in baking cakes. According to Johnnie, “A person who knows how to cook/bake never lacks for friends.” She quickly became a Lower School favorite as she gave cookies and coupons for a free cake pop to all of the students.
Our students also had the opportunity to hear from several of our amazing NCCS parents! Special thanks to Joel Heald - Pastor, Cathy Myers - Interior Design, Brian Bulthuis - Acworth City Manager, Dr Tammy Williams - Pediatrician, Tim Heiple - Commercial Pilot, Sean Ely - Concrete Contractor, and Maxine Pierre - Hewlett Packard. Students were blessed by learning about the amazing jobs that our parents have! What a great opportunity to help us to dream big about “What I want to be when I Grow Up!” Thank you to everyone who made Career Day successful!
Neighbor Love Project
Fifty-seven Lower School students had the opportunity to decorate 350 gift bags and 350 cards for local nursing homes after school this week! These students worked hard as they gave of their time, treasure and talent to minister to others!
Highlights in Health and Physical Education
Our Healthcare Science and Athletic Training classes had an opportunity recently to tour Life University and their Exercise Science Department. During their tour, they were able to see the latest technology related to assessing the fitness level of their athletes and students. They were also able to view their Health and Nutrition programs and facilities. The students had a great time as they explored career choices available to them in this area of study.
In our Upper school Athletic Training and Health classes students are having CPR/AED training. Students are also receiving first aid training by being exposed and reacting to various situations. As a result of this training, all of our upper school students will be certified in adult and child CPR and AED training, as well as have a good understanding of first aid treatments.
Our Lower School Physical Education department is working on tossing and catching with an implement, scoop. Students continue to improve on throwing and catching skills while working on teamwork as well as demonstrating the "Fruits of the Spirit."
