By now, you have likely heard about the Georgia Education Expense Credit (GEEC) and how it helps our school. This incredible and proven opportunity allows Georgia taxpayers to redirect a portion of their state income tax to provide scholarships for eligible students to attend North Cobb Christian School.
Each calendar year Georgia taxpayers can redirect a portion of their state tax dollars to GEEC and receive a TAX CREDIT on their Georgia income tax return. As long as the $58 million cap has not been met, a married couple can re-direct $2,500 and individuals can redirect $1,000 for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit. Each owner/partnerof LLCs, Partnerships, and S-Corps can redirect up to $10,000 to GEEC for a tax credit. C-Corporations can receive a tax credit up to 75% of their Georgia tax liability for contributions made to GEEC.
NCCS is accepting tax credit applications NOW for 2017! With the growing popularity of the program and the addition of pass-through entities being able to contribute, the $58 million dollar cap will be reached and even EXCEEDED on January 3, 2017. NOW is the time to get your forms completed and turned in. You won’t have to pay anything until the first quarter of 2017.
To participate, you MUST turn in your application to the Development Office BEFORE December 15th – so don’t delay!Even if you participated in the program last year and want to participate again this year, you still MUST complete the 2017 application which can be accessed here.
NCCS will have a school wide Christmas Spirit Wear Day next Friday, December 9, in celebration of the Christmas season! That’s A Wrap!
Fourth graders recently worked on mastery of multiplication facts, which are a basic tenet of math foundations and crucial to a student’s success. Through a fun program called “Math Wrap Ups” students engaged in all three modalities of learning (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) to practice the facts. Check out this short Seesaw video to see how our fourth graders are using innovation and technology to create a fun learning experience!
French Food Extravaganza
Just before Thanksgiving, the Upper School French II students began studying the regions of France. France is known as the gastronomical capital of the world - and NCCS students found that out first hand! In their research, students were asked to prepare a dish from their region. They took a field trip to Kroger and made small videos, searching for the ingredients for their recipe. They then took those items home and prepared their specific dish for their fellow classmates.
The project culminated in a massive week of French Food Extravaganza accompanied by a beautiful French movie, "Belle et Sebastien," about true friendship and bravery in the midst of the German Occupation of France during World War II. Madame Dignon’s response to the week? “Bravo to all students! Madame Dignon is officially on a diet now...Merci!”
National Honor Society Supports Operation Christmas Child
Over a period of 3 days, our NCCS Upper School National Honor Society students were able to buy materials for Christmas boxes, wrap shoe boxes, and pack the boxes to send to children around the world. These boxes bring immeasurable joy to the children who receive them along with the ultimate gift: the message of Jesus Christ and the gospel. NHS students exceeded their goal of 50 boxes, and were able to prepare 72 gift boxes for children in all parts of the world. Everyone loved going to Walmart to pick out awesome toys, school supplies, and toiletries to pack the boxes with. On the second day of the event, a wrapping squad wrapped all the boxes in cheerful Christmas paper. On the third and final day, students gathered in Mrs. Post’s classroom to thoughtfully choose items and write encouraging letters for their boxes. They also bought tags for the boxes, so they could track them to their destination across the world. According to NCCS senior and NHS Communications Director Kali Dangar,“With the help of almost all the National Honor Society, this service event was filled with Christmas joy. We are just incredibly happy that we can make a difference in the lives of these children and carry the love of Christ around the world!”
