NCCS ACT & SAT Scores Rise in 2016

In today's world of college admissions so many factors are considered, such as a student’s GPA, co-curricular activities, community service, awards and achievements, propensity for leadership, portfolio of unique and innovative experiences, number of honors and AP courses, recommendation letters, etc. In addition to these many factors, a student’s performance on the ACT and/or SAT test is still an important variable in the college admissions equation. With that in mind, it is exciting to report that the 2016 SAT and ACT scores for our North Cobb Christian School students had very positive results. As you can see from the tables below, the 2016 NCCS SAT scores are up 51 points from a year ago while the nation is - 4, Georgia is +8 and Cobb County is +4. On the ACT, NCCS was up 1.3 points while the nation was -.2, the state was +.1 and Cobb County +.1. Congratulations to our students, as well as the teachers that impact these types of improvements. Also, a big thank you to NCCS College Counselor Karen Bollinger for the tireless efforts that she pours into our college counseling process at NCCS!

All State Chorus Finalists

Congratulations to NCCS senior Austin Geter and sophomore Eli Thomas for passing the final audition for All State Chorus this past Friday night. These vocalists will be singing with Georgia's top choir members under the direction of some truly legendary conductors in February in Athens, Georgia. Special congratulations goes to Austin, as this is his sixth year of acceptance into All State Chorus, making him the only student from NCCS to have ever gotten into All State for all 6 years of eligibility. Great job, Eli and Austin!

Serving Up Success!

Our Lower School students did an outstanding job serving dinner to their parents and friends at the Serve it Up event this past Saturday! The purpose of the dinner was to raise money for the Lower School spring community service project. As a result of their service with a smile, the student servers were blessed to receive generous tips and we are excited to say that they exceeded their goal, with a total of $1,773.00 raised! In addition to the fundraising success, lasting memories were made as the kids learned to serve others!

Eighth Grade Helps With Operation Christmas Child

8thOCCWebOur eighth graders visited the Operation Christmas Child warehouse in early December where they took part in packing some of the millions of boxes that will be sent across the globe to children in need. Upon arrival, students participated in training and began working alongside volunteers from Florida, Virginia, and Georgia. Some students worked in an assembly line where they took part in inspecting, taping, packing, and lifting close to 10,000 boxes (by 11:15am!) Other students packed bars of soap and pencils that would be included in the boxes. The “heavy lifters” were able to close up the filled boxes and prepare them for shipping. A Florida volunteer commented on how well our students picked up on the process and how well they worked together. This outreach project gave our students a glimpse of what a huge blessing Samaritan’s Purse is to the world. Along with the work that they did, our students also delivered their own packed shoeboxes that they donated to this special cause. What a privilege to be able to take part in such an awesome ministry!
