Meet our NCCS College Counseling Dynamos!

Anna Matthews, Kimberly Norfork, and Jovon Jones are the NCCS College Counseling Team.

This powerhouse department includes Mrs. Kimberly Norfork, Ms. Jovon Jones, and Katie Hoptroff.

Together, they work with our students to identify their God-given passions and gifts and to develop those bents through the many academic, arts and athletic opportunities at NCCS.

Their ultimate goal is for our students to be prepared to walk confidently towards all God has in store for their lives — from college to career to ultimate life fulfillment.

One-On-One Student Support

To support students in these critical decisions, the NCCS college counseling team provides one-on-one academic guidance to review high school course selection, helping students secure schedules that strategically inform their goals, including honors classes, Dual Enrollment, AP courses, Academy programs, and electives. The NCCS college counseling office also provides unparalleled resources and connections for students to navigate the college search and acceptance process, expertise to help apply for scholarships and financial aid, and much more

Kimberly Norfork, Director of College Counseling

EDUCATION | Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education in learning and leadership from University of Tennessee - Chattanooga. Mrs. Norfork also holds a Master of Education in professional counseling, a Master of Science in college student development, a Bachelor of Science in psychology, and a Bachelor of Science in sociology.

EXPERIENCE | Prior to joining the NCCS family, Mrs. Norfork worked in college admissions for nine years at Georgia State University, University of Tennessee - Knoxville, and University of Cincinnati, helping students navigate the college admissions process for honors and select scholar programs while assisting families in navigating the financial aid process. A wealth of expertise on the transition between high school and college, Mrs. Norfork is a multi-time presenter at state and regional conferences, as well as at numerous high schools throughout the southeast. 

Jovon Jones, Associate Director of College Counseling

EDUCATION | Ms. Jones holds a Master of Education in higher education and student affairs; a Master of Business Administration; and a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing and international business with a minor in Spanish. 

EXPERIENCE | Prior to joining the NCCS team, Ms. Jones worked in higher education for 11 years. For nine years, she worked directly in admissions and recruitment for colleges and universities in Nashville and South Georgia, reviewing admissions files, facilitating financial aid workshops, serving on scholarship committees, and developing dual enrollment programs. In addition, while living in Louisiana, she served as the academic counselor to soldiers and their families, assisting with college planning and VA education benefits. 

Katie Hoptroff, Academic Support + College Counseling Coordinator

EDUCATION | Mrs. Hoptroff holds a Specialist in Education with a major in Professional Counseling, a Master of Education in School Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. 

EXPERIENCE | Mrs. Hoptroff came to NCCS from Harrison High School in Kennesaw, GA, where she was a school counselor for 10 years. She worked closely with 9th through 12th grade students and their families as they navigated academic, personal, college admissions, and future career goals. During her time in the Cobb County School District, Mrs. Hoptroff served on the Counseling Advisory Team and presented county wide on best practices. She was recognized as the Cobb County School District Counselor of Impact in 2023.
