Our curriculum is designed to make the most of students’ natural curiosity during the early years. Hands-on learning experiences foster critical thinking and effective collaboration skills.

Heavy emphasis is placed on the core subjects of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and Bible, ensuring a solid foundation for all future learning.

Each of these subjects is taught from a biblical perspective, allowing students to see how God’s Word is relevant in every area of life, while STEAM-centered lessons flex problem-solving skills.

The Lower School core curriculum is enhanced by many special subjects, such as Spanish, art, music, technology/STEAM, and physical education.

Led by passionate teachers, these enrichment opportunities help students discover their God-given gifts and talents early on.

We believe a complete education provides more than strong academic foundations. Partnering closely with parents, teachers cultivate values like love, service, personal responsibility, respect, and integrity in the hearts of our students.

Students grow in faith and character through weekly chapel, regular in-school service projects, daily Bible class, and peer discipleship through The Timothy Program. NCCS students glean the rhythms of being an authentic follower of Christ.

From reading and writing to science and social studies, students are given the tools to become confident and independent thinkers.

A biblical framework encourages a continual pursuit of truth in learning, while STEAM-centered lessons flex critical thinking skills. 

RISE (Research, Investigation, Study, & Exploration) is available to students in 2nd through 4th grade who demonstrate academic giftedness, maintain a high grade point average, and qualify through standardized test scores.

Students enjoy 90 minutes per week of enrichment time that involves field trips and higher-level thinking activities. 

Junior Kindergarten at NCCS provides a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for young 5-year-olds who may need a little more time to develop a strong beginning foundation. Our Junior Kindergarten program is designed to ensure that all students have the skills and confidence they need to achieve their full potential the following year in kindergarten.

At NCCS, service is one of our Core Values. Mark 10:45 says, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Our desire is to reach students with the good news of Jesus Christ and to help them become devoted followers of Christ.

The best way to be the hands and feet of Christ is to serve others in His name. We provide our Lower School students with many opportunities throughout the school year to participate in annual seasonal service projects, volunteer opportunities, and community events.

Our Lower Schoolers are known schoolwide for their hearts and hands that serve others!
