Al and Kahli Wilson and family.

North Cobb Christian School is pleased to announce that Coach Al Wilson will be taking over as the director of girls basketball operations, as well as the varsity girls head coach. Coach Wilson has a long resume of coaching both boys’ and girls’ teams and has anchored himself in glorifying God through coaching basketball for over 15 years. His passion is teaching young people about life through sports, while helping them create a blueprint for success in their lives. Coach Wilson began his career in athletics as the first athletic director for Indianapolis Metropolitan School. The pillars of character, integrity and accountability provided the foundation for the school’s athletic success. As a result, Indianapolis Metropolitan School became the first charter school in Indiana history to win a state championship in boy’s basketball.

Al Wilson and Family

Coach Wilson then assumed the head basketball coaching position at Benedictine High School, using those same pillars of success to take a sub-500 team to back-to-back Elite 8 appearances. Coach Wilson also served as the athletic director and head coach at Mountain Mission School in Grundy, Virginia, where his team consistently ranked in the top 10 in the country, as well as winning a national championship during his coaching tenure. While at Davidson Day School in North Carolina, Coach Wilson won a state championship in the Girls 2A division and was named “coach of the year.” Likewise, while in Arizona at Gilbert Christian School, Coach Wilson led his team to a regional championship and also picked up coach-of-the-year honors, again.

Teaching more than the game of basketball, Coach Wilson has shown a unique ability to cultivate relationships with players and their families, spurring young athletes to give their best and strive for success, both on and off the court. He is no stranger to the North Cobb Christian School basketball program, as he served as assistant coach for the varsity girls team for 2021-2022, as well as cheering on his daughter, Selena (class of 2025) and son Albert (class of 2023), who was named the 2022 Region Player of the Year. Victor (class of 2029) and Titus (class of 2034) also attend NCCS.

Meet Associate Coach Kahli Wilson

Along with Coach Al Wilson, NCCS is thrilled to be gaining Kahli Wilson as the associate coach for the varsity girls team. Kahli is the wife of Al and an accomplished coach and former professional athlete. Coach Kahli has demonstrated excellence and a commitment to glorifying God throughout her amazing basketball career. Kahli is a former professional basketball player in Switzerland and a University of Toledo Hall of Fame member (where she still holds Mid-American Conference scoring records), as well as a high school state champion. Success is synonymous with Kahli in all that she does.

As the associate head coach, Kahli will be responsible for the individual development of each player. Kahli has coached multiple athletes who have gone on to play basketball at the highest levels. With the foundation Kahli laid, those players accomplished such feats as winning a Division I National Championship, earning ESPN recognition as a top 100 Women’s National Recruit, and being selected as a lottery pick in the NBA draft.

Kahli’s influence and impact have been vital in winning alongside Coach Al Wilson. At Mountain Mission School, the Challengers were ranked as a top 10 team nationally. In 2019, she assisted in winning a state championship in the 2A division at Davidson Day School, and in 2020 she helped win a regional championship at Gilbert Christian School.

Coach Kahli credits her accomplishments as a player and coach to the Lord, affirming that her experiences of success are a testament to her personal relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ.

We are genuinely excited to have the Wilsons at the helm of the varsity girls basketball program at North Cobb Christian School. Together, this powerhouse coaching duo is extremely invested in taking our athletes to the next level!
