Our 8th-grade students had a once-in-a-lifetime experience today, as they were honored to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Our students were reverent as they participated in this reminder that our freedom is not free.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier serves as a national place of commemoration, honoring all military members throughout American history. The act of laying a wreath at the tomb has been performed by presidents, dignitaries, and war heroes as a way to honor and remember the sacrifices of American service members who died in the service of their country.
We are grateful for the sacrifices of so many and honored to participate in this timeless tradition for our nation.
