Mission Possible: Growing in Faith, Friendship, and Purpose

Written by Janise Placanica, 7th grade Science Teacher

Our 7th and 8th graders kicked off retreat with a full and fulfilling first day—overflowing with adventure, spiritual growth, and unforgettable memories.

After getting settled in, we launched into our first teaching session: “The Bible is True.” Ben, our speaker for the week, shared powerful and thought-provoking evidence for the truth of Scripture. (Parents—ask your child about the walls of Jericho. You might be surprised by what you hear!)

HOUSE FLAGS + OUTDOOR FUN

Next, creativity took center stage as each House designed their flags … and maybe painted themselves in the process. Either way, the energy was high and the results were colorful!

With the sun shining and a breeze on the lake, the afternoon was perfect for outdoor fun. Students enjoyed the blob, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and ziplining—taking time to unplug, explore, and enjoy God’s creation.

EVENING CHAPEL

That evening, chapel was a powerful event. Ben shared about God’s deep love for us—that though sin separates us, Jesus came to bridge the gap so we can have a personal relationship with Him. The Holy Spirit was clearly moving, and many students responded by beginning or renewing their walk with Christ.

FUN + GAMES

We ended the day on a fun note: the boys hit the basketball court, while the girls brought the house down with some unforgettable karaoke. (Yes, we may have a few future stars in our midst!)

Please continue to pray for our students as they grow deeper in faith and community throughout this retreat. God is truly at work in their hearts.

And in the words of a group of girls who just walked by as I was writing this:
“We are having so much fun!” 🎉
