Today was an action packed day from beginning to the end, with one word to describe it all: FAMILY!

Our retreat messages continued with Algernon discussing the Helmet of Salvation in the morning session from 1 Thessalonians 5:8-11, and 2 Corinthians 10: 1-10 about the war between the flesh and the spirit. The morning ended powerfully with many students coming down to the front and all praying for each other!

We also had a mini-session from the leader of our praise band, Jonathan Ray. "J-Ray" is the former Student Life director at NCCS, before becoming a pastor. J-Ray talked about the importance of having times of silence to hear God speak. This was a great session, including a very relevant conviction that cell phones often distract us from hearing from God.

Our 7th and 8th grade students had fun literally from morning until night: great food, time together, early morning cross country and football practice, zip-lining, Blob-ing, playing in the lake, fishing, worshipping, talking, laughing ... NON-STOP MEMORIES!

The day ended on an amazing note, literally, with our NCCS Disney Karaoke Night. We had 19 groups who signed up to sing a collection of Disney songs. The energy in the whole room was electric as crowd of kids in the audience sang right along. (This is definitely an "audience participation" group of kids!)

All the acts were amazing! Coach G was definitely a highlight, singing "You Got a Friend in Me" with his son and niece. Then the football team came up to join in, and finally the whole group came up to the front to sing it all together. The middle school at NCCS has a friend in each other, and ultimately we have the BEST friend in Jesus!

Now the goal is to take this with us and live each day in the love of Christ with one another!
