Makers // Spring Term 2026

Day One

by John David Vifquain, 9th Grade

Hi! My name is John David Vifquain, and I’m going to share what we did today in ST26 Makers. Today we learned how to screen print our own team t-shirts, using an original design by one of our group members, Hayden Burris. Each of us got to heat-press our own shirt for the group—it was really cool to see our designs come to life!

After that, we started working on our major project for the week. This year, we’re building picnic tables and a garden bench for a ministry in Marietta called The Table on Delk, which serves homeless women and children. We got started by cutting wood and assembling the picnic table tops. There’s still a lot of work ahead, but by the end of the week, we’ll have two picnic tables and a garden bench ready for the women and children to enjoy!

Day Two

Jonah McAllister, 10th grade

Today at ST26 Makers, we banded together as brothers and forged FM radios using bits and bolts so we could play music. After building and testing them, we took a lunch break and then came back to finish up the radios. Later, some of our fellow makers headed out to continue constructing two picnic tables and one bench that will be donated.

To start this magnificent day, we decorated paper lunch bags with Bible verses and messages of hope for The Table on Delk to use in their ministry. Overall, it was a very productive day, and we worked together as a team to get a lot done.

Day Three

John McCormack - Teacher

Today our group went to Kennesaw Board and Brush in the morning to learn how to stain and paint individual projects made from pine lumber. These ranged from decorative signs to hang in a home, seasonal projects like decorations for Christmas, and even wooden food serving trays.

Afterwards, we enjoyed an afternoon of fun and food in the arcade and bowling alley at Stars and Strikes in Dallas, GA.

Day Four

Ashton West, 9th; Kaeleb Dolphy, 9th

Today for Makers Spring Term, we started off our day by making more bags for the Sack Lunch ministry, like we have been doing all week in the mornings. These will be given to the women who are at The Table On Delk.

After that, we all learned how to use a laser engraver and made wrench-shaped keychains as gifts for our Lower School prayer partners. The keychains were cut out of hardboard and had “Makers ST26” engraved on them.

Next, we stained the bench and tables we have built and are donating to The Table On Delk, completing all final construction so they are ready to deliver tomorrow. We are looking forward to one more day of Spring Term and being able to deliver the tables and bench that we have been working so hard on.

Day Five

Daniel Savutiu - 10th Grade

This spring term, my school went on a trip to a place called The Table on Delk, where we spent the day giving back to the community and learning more about the space. We worked together to build two tables and one bench, then installed them at The Table so they could be used by others.

While two groups assembled the tables and bench, a third group spent some time clearing leaves and picking up trash from the property. After finishing the outdoor work, we got to take a tour inside the building, which used to be a church and has been beautifully renovated.

Overall, it was a meaningful experience that allowed us to work as a team, help the community, and see how an old building can be transformed into something new and useful. Once we came back to school, we finished making keychains for our Lower School prayer partners using the laser cutter/engraver and delivered them to the class.

It has been an amazing week full of unforgettable experiences, as we served our community while learning new skills.
