Proverbs 31

Proverbs 31 – Tuesday

by Averi Smith, 9th grade

On Tuesday, January 6th, our group started the day with our daily devotion, reading through Proverbs 31 and learning about the attributes of a Jesus-fearing woman. Then, we headed to our first mission at Recover Bartow in Cartersville. When we first arrived, we sat in a conference room and learned all about the drug epidemic and its effects around the world. We also learned about what Recover Bartow is doing to help people in our community who are facing addiction.

Afterward, we made breakfast for people attending a recovery meeting. Next, we went to a nearby neighborhood known for high rates of drug use and placed flyers on mailboxes, sharing information about Recover Bartow and letting people know help is available.

Lunch was at Chicken Salad Chick, and then we finished the day at Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter. Everyone helped in different ways—cleaning, organizing clothing, and using our abilities to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

We saw Jesus at work through both of these organizations. Both Recover Bartow and Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter show love to people without judgment and do what they can to serve their communities. It was a wonderful day!

Wednesday

Rachel Ribeiro- 9th grade

On Wednesday, January 7th, our team began the morning with a devotional from Proverbs 31. We learned how the Proverbs 31 woman lives each day with a grateful, positive attitude, and we discussed how we can apply these lessons to our own lives today.

Next, we went to get manicures and pedicures while talking about the importance of caring for our souls, hearts, and bodies. Afterward, we had an amazing lunch at the Swheat Market and enjoyed some quality time together.

In the afternoon, we visited Bartow Family Resources, where we donated diapers, baby wipes, and gift cards to help mothers and families in need of extra support. We learned about their ministry—how they assist families through meetings, counseling, supplies, clothing, and most importantly, by serving Christ with love and compassion. After our discussion, we organized baby clothes for their small shop, where visiting families can select items.

Finally, we visited Coconuts for ice cream!

We saw Jesus at work today in many ways. At BFR, His love and compassion are evident in the care given to women and children, providing opportunities and sharing the gospel through action. We also witnessed how Jesus moves the hearts of these women and the significant impact this organization has on so many lives.

Thursday – Proverbs 31

Abria Bartlett - 9th grade

Today, Thursday, was packed with activities that brought us closer together while also giving us opportunities to serve. We started at Board and Brush, where we got to be creative, laugh a lot, and enjoy each other’s company while designing woodwork projects.

After that, we stopped at Panera Bread Company, where we ate, talked, and played games as a group.

One of the most impactful parts of the day was visiting the Pearl Memory Care Facility in Dallas, GA. We had the chance to connect with the community and see firsthand how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in other people’s lives.

This trip has been incredibly encouraging, and today reminded us how special it is to grow, serve, fellowship, and make memories together during Spring Term.
