1983 / The Beginning

In 1983, North Cobb Christian School was chartered by four families seeking a biblically based, academically excellent education for their children.

1984 / Nonprofit Status

Housed within Grace Brethren Church in Marietta, NCCS received its official nonprofit status, elected a board of directors, and joined the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) in 1984.

1987 / Breaking Ground

In 1987, 10 acres of land were purchased near the border of Acworth and Kennesaw, and construction began. By February 1989, the building was complete—NCCS’s first sweet little building was ready to welcome many excited families.

In 1989, NCCS’s first eighth-grade class graduated! Enrollment continued to climb.

1996 / Growing Again!

With exploding growth, NCCS kicked off a capital campaign in 1996 to finance an addition that added 30 classrooms, a gymnasium, science lab, media center, two cafeterias and office space.

1997 / High School Is Launched

The school opened its doors to high school students in the fall of 1997, adding one grade level each year thereafter.

1995 / Enrollment Explosion

As NCCS’s reputation for providing an excellent education within a Christ-centered environment grew, enrollment surged. By 1995, with 300 students enrolled, a critical need emerged for more space and expanded learning environments.

Because of the Lord’s rich blessings, miraculous contributions, and many generous donations, a new addition was completed!

2000 / First Senior Class

With a total school enrollment of 910, the first senior class of North Cobb Christian School graduated in 2000. Eagle alumni were officially launched into the world! 

2001 / GISA Arts + Athletics Champions!
2001 / GISA Arts + Athletics Champions!

In our first year with the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA), NCCS was named the overall champion in the 4AA region for excellence in both athletics and fine arts!

2002 / AAA Athletics

Continuing to grow, North Cobb Christian School moved up to AAA competition and was ranked as the eighth-largest private school in Metro Atlanta.

2007 / Renewed Vision with Todd Clingman.
2007 / Renewed Vision

Head of School Todd Clingman joined the Eagle family in 2007. That same year, the NCCS Academies—magnet programs within the Upper School—were launched, allowing students to “major” in a field of study aligned with their college and career goals. These include: The Academy of Business; The Academy of Counseling, Ministry, and Education; The Academy of the Arts; The STEM Academy; and The Academy of Exercise and Sport Science.

Additional property was acquired, and a football program was launched! The growing success of NCCS athletic programs led to a transition into the Georgia High School Association (GHSA).

2009 / Master Plan is launched.
2009 / Master Plan

A Campus Master Site Plan was launched, resulting in the addition of the Fine Arts Building, the Upper School building with dedicated math and science labs, an athletic stadium, expanded dining areas, and numerous facility upgrades.

2012 - 2014 | Arts + Acreage

Property acquisitions expanded the NCCS campus from 16 acres to over 40! Adjacent former church property was transformed into our state-of-the-art Fine Arts Building.

2010 / Student Experience Upgrades

Science labs, classrooms, and band and orchestra rooms were added. Additionally, space was renovated to create the Upper School Student Life Center, and the Field House was completed to support athletics and PE classes.

NCCS continues to grow, celebrating ribbon cuttings for a beautiful tennis complex, a practice field, and an impressive new entrance on Eagle Drive.

NCCS undergoes a brand overhaul, unveiling a fresh new logo, updated colors, and a cohesive, recognizable identity—as the school’s impact and Christ-centered influence in the community continue to grow.

The cutting-edge, 38,000-square-foot NCCS Upper School was unveiled in 2020, featuring a STEM Center, SOAR Lab, and MakeShop—each designed to foster innovation and collaboration.

NCCS continues to experience the Lord’s favor, with over 1,250 students in K3–12th grade thriving on a 54-acre campus—home to championship athletic teams, award-winning fine arts, and exceptional academics. Through all the years, however, one thing has never changed: the school’s unwavering commitment to providing a top-tier, Christ-centered education.

We remained true to the mission of bonding together to provide the best Christian education possible — preparing today’s children for tomorrow’s challenges.
